“One isn’t necessarily born with courage,
but one is born with potential.
Without courage,
we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency.
We can’t be kind,
true,
merciful,
generous,
or honest.”Maya Angelou
It isn’t always easy to follow our own sense of rightness, our sense of personal integrity.
There are so many external — and even internal — pressures that push us to conform, to comply, to ignore, and to compromise beyond our comfort level.
I loved this quote from Maya Angelou when I read it in a newsletter from Jessica Albon of Design Doodles.
I loved it because I also believe that finding your courage is an essential ingredient in discovering and living your potential.
And courage, to me, very much depends on connecting with your heart — as the word “courage” originates from the Old French “corage” meaning “heart and spirit.” I teach a method of connecting with your heart that helps to manage stress and maintain better health, but more importantly, it can help to re-connect with your inner courage, make decisions you feel good about, be more aware of your inner inspirations.
You can read more about this training — called heart coherence — on my other blog at this link: The Heart of Neurofeedback.
Especially in politics, courage is essential. And courage comes from within. And you have as much as you need, if you stay connected to it.
